Took Otto and David for their first round of minigolf. They had a ton of fun. No score was kept, it was enough for them just to get the balls into the holes (which involved manual placement some of the time). It was a good thing we had the course to ourselves!

+2: Henry and Amelia got into it, too )

Took the kiddos out to Lone Pine for the corn maze and a hayride to the pumpkin patch! we had way too much fun scaring Otto and David by pretending there were corn monsters in the maze.

We had our third annual Hot Dog Thanksgiving party, this time made extra-stupendous by the addition of a cider press and 100 lbs of apples and pears! Everyone had a ton of fun helping with the pressing. Here, Otto and Ruxton take a turn at the extraction step.

If it's possible, I highly recommend pressing your own apple cider at some point. Borrow or rent a press and get yourself some fruit. It is work, but shared among everyone at a party it is very fun. And we wound up with a massive amount of the most delicious juice! We all drank a bunch at the party, everyone took home multiple bottles, and we still have at least 3 gallons in our fridge.

quilt back with kids

Pieced together with the "scraps" from the front (obviously I planned it this way because those are some pretty big scraps!) and white. This is bigger than the finished quilt will be, I gave myself an extra 3" all around.

And here's the front again (except now it has a 3" yellow border all around).

I still haven't decided how I'm going to quilt it. Something geometric, maybe crossed straight lines making an X in the center of each square? Or free-motion squiggles? I need to think about it more.

I really try not to do back-to-back posts of the same sort of content for my dailies, but how can I resist this?

Still at the coast. We visited the Darlingtonia bog and saw lots of mossy trees. We also went to the Sea Lion Cave (no sea lions that day, but still fun) and took the boys swimming in Woahink lake.
